(I apologize in advance if readers feel that their newsgroup was not
appropriate for this post. I picked the closest three I could find;
feel free to email me if you think I should add or delete a newsgroup
name from the newsgroup's line. (one companies name showed up in GPS
world (hence sci.geo.satellite-nav)).
I would like to know the names and addresses (or phone numbers) of all
companies that are planning low earth orbit communications systems.
The following incomplete list has the ones I am familiar with so far,
if anyone knows of any others please email me and I'll post an update
later. Thank you.
Little LEO (data only) Project Name
---------------------- ------------
Orbital Communication Corp. ORBCOMM
Fairfax, Va.
Starsys Inc. Starnet
Lanham, Maryland
Big LEO (voice and data)
------------------------
Motorola Inc. Irridium
Chandler, Arizona
TRW Inc. (This system is more medium earth orbit) Odyssey
Redondo Beach, California
Loral/Qualcomm Globalstar
dara parsavand who would be ecstatic to have a PET (Portable
parsavan@prony.colorado.edu Email Transciever), but is still waiting
